Jack Wills's new opening

Some may call it ideal for a store branded a 'University Outfitter' to be newly opened in a major student town, especially the students of Canterbury who are happy to have such a shop so close to home.

As of Thursday 14th April 2011, Jack Wills revealed its grand opening in Canterbury town on George street. The shop is situated in the heart of the town, close to major retail chains such as New Look, newly opened Cath Kidston and Marks and Spencer's.

The store has always been a favourite to Prince William and his new wife Kate Middleton as well as his brother Harry and they have been spotted out in the clothing on many occasions. The store began an advertising campaign for the newlyweds during the period of the Royal Wedding, selling merchandise with the logo on the left.

Specialising mostly in casual wear, both men and women can enjoy the choices the store provides for a vibrant and comfortable trend. Although the store was deemed very popular for locals, students and adding to the modern style of the town, there are some factors that 'put off' the customer spending.

Lauren Bates, a history student at Canterbury Christ Church University says:

"I think the clothes in Jack Wills are lovely. they are not the sort of things or styles i usually go for but when the shop first opened i couldn't resist having a look.

"After having a look i was shocked at how expensive the clothes actually were. A pair of socks were £15 and out of all the stock the only things i would consider buying would be a tracksuit top or joggers, which is nothing special.

"I may be a student on a student budget but that is extreme. I would much rather spend that much on a top from Topshop- and it will be nice enough to wear on a night out not just around the house."

However, there are many students that are in favour of the new store opening. Hannah O'Shaugnessy, also a student at Christ Church, disagrees with the previous comments and believes that Jack Wills is 'the best shop ever.'

"I was so excited when i saw all the building for the new Jack Wills. I am a massive fan to say the least. I think the prices are well worth the things you can buy.

"Back at home i always shop there and have so many clothes from there. I don't think it is just lounging around in clothes, many of the clothes i wear out during the day and they are so comforting and warm and just nice all round.

"Its like a designer label but at student prices and styles. When the shop opened i brought a pencil case and pens because thats all i could afford. But i actually love that shop that i didn't mind buying something so little.

"I could spend everyday and all the money i will ever have in Jack Wills. I actually love it."
